Error with plug-in startup

I was trying to figure out how to run the FTBInstall.sh because I can’t figure it out, but then I tried to re-enter the web-ui and I couldn’t switch the service on and got this off the plug-in menu. Any help would be appreciated (as well as an explanation about running the .sh file). Thank you

hi Hugemike,

sorry i can not help with this issue but i am wondering if you are trying to get the python version of MineOS to work and why?

the clue i can give is that the FTB.sh file is no longer needed (except in very unique circumstances) and the current FTB installer .jar files replace the .sh file functions.

I’m sorry I’m still very new to this, I was having the problem where after setting up the server and accepting the eula the server would go up just to immediately come down. And no matter what I do I can’t get it to go back up so I googled the issue and I read that it was a problem with the .sh file.

another thing to consider is exactly what steps you have made using user “root” as this by itself can cause some issues and untoward behavior from MineOS, as it was not designed for root as the main user. of course with some steps root is required.

ok, so i am by no means an expert but i see now you have MineOS NodeJS and not python as i kep seeing in your original Traceback.
things to think about:

did you first try to get a vanilla mc running? or jump right in to FTB?

i am not on FreeNAS but my system seems to like me to make a server, get the version of mc i intend to use up and running then install my intended FTB flavor.

from your logs i do not see anything working as intended or any of the paths i am used to seeing, so others may be better equipped to shed light there.

my feeling is an installation error so i am guessing this was a remote install (via get) as opposed to an .iso install?

Vanilla server worked fine, I tried that first to make sure. And yes, it was a download from the mineos plugin profiles section. But I will try getting a vanilla server up and then switching it over to a ftb server and seeing if that works! I’m also a noob and am still learning a lot about this so I don’t know how to do an .iso install

Sir hexparrot says that for FreeNAS 9.3 the version of node might need to be updated.

i use an .iso install to a VM so my limit with command line is not enough to help. sorry.

EDIT: updating the jail refers to the free bsd install, not the mine os install. then you have the minecraft install, so 3 things to go wrong, LOL.

yep, confirmed the issue is here.

solution, there: The problem is you need a more recent version of Node, v0.10 won’t do. And you need to be able to get through npm install when you do have 4.0 or higher. (node jumped from v0.12 or so to 4.0, the stable release)

yes, that is the posix problem they mentioned. i saw the fix there as well but i also saw some that could not fix the posix issue.

are you married to the free bds route?

i looked at that as well as free nas or was it free bsd. gave them all a miss and went another way that has worked very well for my system.

i mean, i even read some who just throw the MineoS.iso into the server dvd drive and format the hard drive so it only runs MineOS.

i wanted multiple os’s so i went the vmware route. others go with linux or other flavor as a base os first.

I just installed the MineOS.iso turnkey onto my server, and I’m having the same problem, Vanilla stays up, FTB does not.

EDIT: after a bit more experimenting it’s just the FTB .jars that dont work not the profile if that makes a difference

oh see? Look how much of a noob I am. I assumed forge would be a part of the server jar… And seeing how nooby I am how would I install it onto my server? usb or is the a way to do it from my main pc?

EDIT: i have this all wrong. FTB uses it’s own jar.

select it in the .jar dropdown box of the web user interface…

please post a new log file to see why the server will not start.
