MineOS@RPI3 can't connect to server

Hi! I am trying to create a minecraft server for my son and friends. I have been reading and learning about this, and finally I found MineOS as a great alterantive.

I am medium user (knowledge in nets, linux and so), but I haven’t been able to connect to the server and this is frustating.

My situation is:

  • MineOS over Raspbian @ RPI3 (all updated and upgraded)
  • Open ports using NAT on my router
  • Checked the open ports, it is OK.
  • Raspbian is listening to the open port (checked with netstat)

Still can’t connect. Also tried to start a second server on same RPI3 using different port, all done frome MineOS UI, but there is no new listening port.

Any help is much appreciated. I prefer my son to play on a controlated server better than public that I can’t control who plays with.

You say you can’t connect. Some questions:

  • Is this from a minecraft game?
  • Or to the WebUI?
  • What kind of minecraft game client do you try to connect with?
    ** Java minecraft client?
    ** Bedrock client? (windows10 appstore, iPhone, Android, Xbox, PS4 and so on)

Could you please provide some logs?
We need those to be able to better help you. We need both the mineos.log, and the minecraft server log.

Unfortunately this is due to incompatibility.

  • MineOS primarilly supports Minecraft java edition.
  • Windows10 Appstore is a Bedrock edition.

The two versions do not work together, and can not connect to each others serverstype.
To be able to connect o a minecraft java server you need this version of minecraft: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition/

to be able to connect a bedrock client to a server you need the bedrock server: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock/

Bedrock Servers will not show up in MineOS, and are not available for controll through MineOS. This is due to the bedrock servers being a compiled executive rather than a java-applet, so MineOS has no way of connecting. Since the Bedrock servers are in alpha testing, it also needs some os tweaking to get all depenencies in place. This means that untill MineOS can have a simple “click here to set up” it will not be added to profiles or downloads.

Thanks for the answer, now I understand. However, I can’t connect neither using Win10 or Android. So, shall I go for a bedrock version os is there any java clients for this platforms? I already paid all the licenses for Nintendo Switch, PC + Android, and I start finding that Nintendo Switch doesn’t accept private servers. Now, that I need specific server because some of them are not compatible…

I must say that Mojang is quite a shit for a 1.000MM$ company.

Both server types are free.
The bedrock server: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock/
The java server: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/

The java servers are also available through MineOS profiles.

The java server only accepts java clients.
The bedrock server accept the following: Win10 Appstore version, Android version, IOS version. In theory also game console versions, but those consoles limit the posibility to connect to servers by IP-adress.
