I’ve gotten a vanilla minecraft server running and I want to try hosting a forge modpack but can’t find any solid tutorial on how to. In other words I want to host the MC Eternal modpack on curse forge but don’t know how to, please help!!
This is what I’ve done so far:
- download the server pack of the modpack from curse forge
- use filezilla and copy the server pack to the import folder (var/games/minecraft/import)
- go onto the webUI and under ‘import a server’, create a server from the server files
- now in server status, I don’t know what to do from here - if I change the runnable jar to ‘forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2874-universal.jar’ it doesn’t start, if I change it to ‘minecraft_server.1.12.2.jar’ it works but some of the mods dont work and the world looks like a vanilla generated world (no modded biomes or structures were generated)
so yeah. . . I would appreciate some insight if what I’m doing is right or wrong and how to continue from here
Here you go - took me ages to figure out what was happening
FIXED IT!!! I THINK, so far it is working.
I had to download java 8 in order to get it to work!!!
In order to get forge to work, I followed this tutorial
(see my other comment with the link)
It was all done as a root user, and I had to remove “sudo” and just go with the rest of it
