Getting [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up!

Hello,
I am using a older HP Desktop as a mineOS server the server randomly shuts down but we are not doing anything very tasking at the time.

System Info

Type AMD E2-3222 apu with Radeon™ HD Graphics 2 cores
Speed 2400MHz
Stepping 300F10
4096MB DDR3 1333MHz single channel

I am using 1.10.2 Forge with 4096mb Allocation.

I not sure what else to put.

I do get the [Server thread/WARN]: Can’t keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running xxxxms behind, skipping xx tick(s). message. and was told it could be a low cpu speed but I have 2.4 and have heard of people running a server with 1.8.

Also did a test with my brother and I flew around the map at high speeds to get it to crash for aleast 20 mins and nothing happened

Basicly your machine isn’t fast enough to run the server. Forge servers with mods could be hard to run. Also clock speed doesn’t say anything. As the amount of cores your cpu has is also affected by this. If you aren’t using any mods, i recommend using PaperSpigot. That will run better on lower- end machines.

To be able to help we would like the logs please.

You can try to increase tick time to see if your server Is wrongly considered hung.

(Put a larger number in the “max-tick-time” setting in server.properties )

Okay I will try to get the server logs, (doing a million things a once with a sinus infection=sucks)

This may or may not matter and the server hasn’t go down yet but I had a monitor plugged into the server for the past 2 hrs and 40 minutes and it didn’t shut down.

My 5 sec and 15 sec load graph never went over 1 it stayed around .75 my 1 sec load did but not by much. not sure it any of that helps.

I was flying at full speed when getting the WARN messages and the moving to fast ones just a little info on that

The “can’t keep up” messages are an old mine craft thing and of no real consequence.

The "moved to quickly " are a measurement mine craft added to catch potential cheaters. Unfortunately it triggers on flying max speed (either in creative, or with the new wings) or falling far.also mostly of no consequence.

What we need is both mineos.log and the server log (latest.log) from a crashed run.

Okay how do I get them? It there a place for me to pull them off of the server? Flew around for a few minutes and only got the “can’t keep up” Once and not a million times after I changed tick to 100000.

If the error disappeared after increasing the tick time and you experience no lagging in game, I would call it solved by workaround. I also have to run with increased tick and haw notice no bad effects (and I do have the hardware to run several servers😏)

8gb ram

server spec’s
2gb ram each

so awesome because i changes tick rate to 1k its doing great no lag nothink its doing great i love this :slight_smile:
