So I can’t access the /var/games says it does not exist, but when I ls it shows games under the /var folder.
Can you provide us greater detail with what you are doing and what error message you’re getting? In particular, if you’re able to provide copy/pasted from your terminal itself.
Well I was able to access the games folder but not the minecraft folder

cd /minecraft is not doing what you intend for it to do. You’re telling it to go to /minecraft, which means a directory called minecraft in the filesystem root, e.g.,
/bin
/boot
/minecraft
/mount
so you can do either of the following to actually enter the directory:
cd /var/games/minecraft
OR
cd /var
cd games
cd minecraft
(notice no leading /)
Ah. Thank you very much. Sad thing is if I had just looked at my previous entry I would have noticed that I did cd games without the / and it worked…
