I have a fresh log that I just created my making another server and letting it go up then down. If it would help

ok, so i am by no means an expert but i see now you have MineOS NodeJS and not python as i kep seeing in your original Traceback.
things to think about:

did you first try to get a vanilla mc running? or jump right in to FTB?

i am not on FreeNAS but my system seems to like me to make a server, get the version of mc i intend to use up and running then install my intended FTB flavor.

from your logs i do not see anything working as intended or any of the paths i am used to seeing, so others may be better equipped to shed light there.

my feeling is an installation error so i am guessing this was a remote install (via get) as opposed to an .iso install?

Vanilla server worked fine, I tried that first to make sure. And yes, it was a download from the mineos plugin profiles section. But I will try getting a vanilla server up and then switching it over to a ftb server and seeing if that works! I’m also a noob and am still learning a lot about this so I don’t know how to do an .iso install

Sir hexparrot says that for FreeNAS 9.3 the version of node might need to be updated.

so you can look at that as well.

oh yeah sorry the MineOS was a get install. How would I go about updating the jail?

i use an .iso install to a VM so my limit with command line is not enough to help. sorry.

just trying to point to some thing to look at until others see your post.

EDIT: updating the jail refers to the free bsd install, not the mine os install. then you have the minecraft install, so 3 things to go wrong, LOL.

yep, confirmed the issue is here.

solution, there: The problem is you need a more recent version of Node, v0.10 won’t do. And you need to be able to get through npm install when you do have 4.0 or higher. (node jumped from v0.12 or so to 4.0, the stable release)

yes, that is the posix problem they mentioned. i saw the fix there as well but i also saw some that could not fix the posix issue.

are you married to the free bds route?

i looked at that as well as free nas or was it free bsd. gave them all a miss and went another way that has worked very well for my system.

i mean, i even read some who just throw the MineoS.iso into the server dvd drive and format the hard drive so it only runs MineOS.

i wanted multiple os’s so i went the vmware route. others go with linux or other flavor as a base os first.

I just installed the MineOS.iso turnkey onto my server, and I’m having the same problem, Vanilla stays up, FTB does not.

EDIT: after a bit more experimenting it’s just the FTB .jars that dont work not the profile if that makes a difference

did you install forge?

you must have a forge.jar, please make sure you choose wisely.

oh see? Look how much of a noob I am. I assumed forge would be a part of the server jar… And seeing how nooby I am how would I install it onto my server? usb or is the a way to do it from my main pc?

EDIT: i have this all wrong. FTB uses it’s own jar.

select it in the .jar dropdown box of the web user interface…

please post a new log file to see why the server will not start.

That’s okay! I was learning about puttygen and SSH keys so I’m getting better I think. Still cant figure out how to get the logs :confused:

EDIT: the .jar(s) I’m using seem to be the issue

EDIT2: wait maybe Im a moron

EDIT3: nope still not working. I found the forge jar but I still can’t get anything to work. It also wont make a log for the non vanilla profiles

i hope you will keep trying and keep checking back. fresh eyes, fresh mind etc. oh, and coffee.

important log locations:
MineOS log: /var/log/mineos.log
Minecraft server log: /var/games/minecraft/servers/servername/logs/latest.log

this log you posted was correct and indicated you had an incompatible node",“version”:“v0.10.31” showing why you could not get that server started.

not correct, i think. your new server may not be starting but i doubt it is because of the same problem. it might be, so some more details are required to confirm.

  1. the logs do show a failed load and we need to view them.
  2. what hardware are you using. old laptop, old pc, actual server rasberry pi, etc. and the specs, arm cpu, intel, how much ram etc.

in the meantime, it has happened that some wrong files are included in what gets d/l from the profiles menu.

so i will create a new server here and attempt to build a “FTBBeyondServer.zip”,“version”:“1.10.2”.

in fact that might be the issue right there and i will confirm if having a .zip makes any difference or if a .jar is required.

i will report results here shortly.

I’m not even running freeNAS anymore, I research what you said earlier and got the MineOS as the main system on my server, I recently went out and bought a bunch of cost effective bits and pieces of hardware of and Asus motherboard, Intel pic, radeon (I think) eight core processor, 16gb of ram, and a 2tb hard drive. Again vanilla works just fine but I would rather play modded

yes, i understood that already. we are now working on why the new mc server won’t start. (still would like to see the logs).

it looks like you are not underpowered in the hardware area.

one issue i have already had in my new FTB server build is the profile download was not completed but it showed as downloaded. so i have had to d/l it again.

by the way, what ftb client (what is used to enter the ftb server) do you intend to use?

EDIT: it is also of note and very unexpected that my MineOS WebUI has crashed twice now while d/l the FTB profile.
